What we're doing

Ginanne is a wife and a mom in her early 20's. For the past few months she has been throwing up to the point of hospitalization and doctors don't know why. As of today she can only consume about 600 calories a day. She has so far lost 40 pounds and is continuing to lose more every day.

As friends of Ginanne, we are setting up this auction blog to raise money for her. Ginanne needs medical testing done to find out what has been making her so sick. Please, look over our items up for auction and bid generously.

Ginanne's Story, In Her Words

I first realized something was actually wrong with me in November 2009. I had gotten really sick the week of thanksgiving and couldn't eat anything. I looked back and realized I had gotten the "stomach flu" several times in the past year. More often than I think is possible. I actually decided to write down the dates i remembered being sick and realized it happened at least once a month, and was getting closer and closer. A few of those times i even went to the ER to be rehydrate and be given anti-nausea medication. I spent Christmas day 2009 in the ER again for the same reasons. It was miserable. I tried to explain when I went in, but the ER doctors didn't listen, they just kept saying it was a bug and I would get better.
It didn't make sense that something was wrong with me, because i would go through periods of times when I felt perfectly healthy and could eat, then all of a sudden I would feel nauseous one night, wake the next day vomiting and not holding down anything. The next day I would be able to keep down liquids, and work on rehydrating, then the next day I could have bland foods and be feeling better. It was just like getting the stomach flu over and over again, each time having less in between time of feeling okay.
Currently I am constantly nauseous, I have been able to see a low income clinic doctor that gave me a prescription for phenergan to help with the nausea. I get sick to the point of vomiting at least once a week, usually on weekends. Anxiety, excitement, etc. also triggers the vomiting, along with lack of sleep. I can barely eat anything, usually just bland foods, and eat on good days around 600 calories. I have lost a lot of weight, usually dropping 5-10 lbs each time i have a vomiting episode, and gaining little back when i have recovered. I now deal with constant headaches and dizziness, along with lack of energy. Every time I stand up my eyes black out and my knees go weak, and I have passed out several times. I know this is from dehydration/malnutrition.
I was referred to a GI specialist, and he determined I need an upper endoscopy to figure out what was wrong. He said it could be over 100 different possibilities, and the upper endoscopy will tell him exactly what's wrong to get me the help I need. The problem is I have no medical insurance. We applied for a local charity program called "Project Access" and they accepted the application, but there is a 3 month wait to get the help I need. The upper endoscopy will cost an estimated $4000, if everything goes smoothly and if the upper endoscopy actually provides a diagnosis. Then there will be the cost of treatment as well.
